Kanchanaburi has great wildlife, and a wonderful climate, but there is something that makes it stand out even within the diverse country of Thailand – its culture. Being that Kanchanaburi is a small city near the capital, it gets both the small town charm as well as the big city feel.
And while it is difficult to compare Kanchanaburi to any city in the United States, the closest approximation in my mind is a city in the Pacific Northwest. What I mean by that is that you get a laid back culture, great food, and wonderful sites, all while maintaining the hustle and bustle of larger cities.
In Kanchanaburi, there truly is something for everyone.
No matter your interests
Kanchanaburi will not disappoint. A recent movie (I forget the name) depicts two assassins, divergent characters, that find themselves in a historic city. One wants to see sights, the other wants to explore the nightlife. Since they can’t split up, there develops a dichotomy where they essentially need to aqueous to one or another’s needs.
In Kanchanaburi, there is no need to pick one or the other. The nightlife integrates so seamlessly into the rich history of the town, that no matter where you go, everyone will find something that will interest them.
And let me tell you, you may think you’ve eaten Thai food, but you haven’t. Pick any restaurant and it will likely be the best Thai food you’ve ever had. Welcome to Kanchanaburi, where it is virtually impossible to have a bad time.
